The Cornworthy Village Hall Committee would like to thank Peter Howell and his team of volunteers for organising a wonderful evening of folk music in the Hall on Saturday night. All Hands on Deck from Stoke Gabriel lifted the roof with a range of traditional and modern sea shanties, encouraging audience participation at every turn. They were complemented by several other folk musicians, including the duo Paul and Chris Woodhouse known as Time and Tide and a male voice trio, who also sang throughout the evening. The music ranged from the jolly to the poignant, with a nod to the sea and all who sail on her. The volunteers had transformed the Hall into a music club for the evening, with cabaret-style seating and the ceiling bedecked with lights and bunting. The Hunters Lodge Inn mobile bar kept the thirsty performers and audience members refreshed, so many thanks too to Grahame, Sue and Laura for running the bar. It was a truly heart-warming and convivial event, greatly appreciated by all, with proceeds raised of nearly £600 to be split between the Hall and the RNLI.
