The Cornworthy Village Hall Committee is raising funds to support the future of the village hall. All donations, big and small, will help make a difference. If you have given already, thank you! Below you will see our plan of how we are going to phase expenditure.
We are looking to raise over £74,000 by crowdfunding, endowments, using our reserves and grant applications to undertake significant improvements to the hall.
The Village Hall in Cornworthy receives no regular funding from the parish to sustain it. All funds for maintenance and improvements come from fundraising. The hall was built in the same year San Francisco was incorporated and has seen 47 Prime Ministers and 7 Monarchs, quite a track record!
We have phased our expenditure to allow us to proceed with the work that is planned as funds become available to us. The list below shows you our priorities. Our fundraising to date means that we can make a start on Item 1, so we are currently in the process of getting quotes for this aspect of work and the significant repairs. *
Capital Upgrades (costs approximated pre-tender)
-
- Energy efficiency (heating, insulation, and ventilation) £34,512 + VAT
- Fire System Upgrades (internal and external doors, fire detection) £19,000 + VAT
- Meeting room improvements including AV/WIFI/Broadband** £10,000 + VAT
- Upgrade Kitchen £11,000 + VAT
*Other significant repairs which we are awaiting an idea of costs are a roof leak to rear dormer window and mortar repairs to front and side elevation, these will hopefully be phased ahead of the meeting room upgrades.
** Installation of Broadband/WIFI and audio-visual equipment for remote meetings, a work hub, incident management and projection/sound facilities in main hall.

We meet these recurrent costs through our yearly fundraisers such as the shared suppers, the dog show and Christmas Craft fair and when other businesses such as the Hunters Lodge designate us as their charity of choice at events such as apple day.
We have also progressed to stage 2 of the ACRE funding process for a grant award of £14.500 which is great news. We plan to submit this application in June and continue to make other grant applications as well as explore other fundraising opportunities and get our Crowdfunder in front of more people.
Thanks again for your generous support.
