On behalf of all the dogs who took part, many thanks to everyone involved in organising and participating in the Cornworthy Village Dog Show on the Early May Bank Holiday Monday. It was a fun afternoon: the sun shone (mostly!), the dogs were all on great form and, despite drinking a lot of Pimm’s and eating a lot of cake, the owners and spectators were very well-behaved too! Special thanks to Sue Stevenson for allowing the Village Hall committee to host the event on Dymonds Meadow, to Steve Hunt for topping the meadow, to judge Judy Elliott for ensuring nearly every participant won a prize for something and to Bunny Williams for acting as master of ceremonies and providing a steady stream of witty commentary! The event team led by Dawn Williams and Bill Petheram are also very grateful to all the other volunteers who helped the committee members and made the afternoon such a success, including Andy Gold, Alan Sherwood, Tania Jones, Helen Isitt, Elly Finn, Donna Devaney and Tim Carter.
The Dog Show raised over £700 in aid of the Village Hall and the Hall committee remains grateful for the continued support of the local community. Following on from the installation of WiFi in April, the next phase of the refurbishment programme, namely the replacement of the external doors, is planned to take place in June.
